“SEE INFINITY IN YOUR EYES” is rooted in an academic exploration of the structure of human consciousness, seeking to examine, from the interdisciplinary perspectives of psychology, philosophy, and art, how visual perception serves as a medium where consciousness and the subconscious intertwine. Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalytic theory posits that the subconscious forms the core of human spiritual drives, subtly shaping our behavior and cognition. Carl Jung, advancing this further, introduces the concept of the collective unconscious, suggesting that individual visual experiences may carry archetypal imagery transcending the personal. Grounded in these foundations, and enriched by contemporary cognitive science’s analysis of consciousness layers, this exhibition invites viewers to ponder: Are the things we see projections of the external world, or reflections from the depths of our inner selves?
This exhibition positions the viewer as an active generator of meaning. The artworks are not merely vessels of the artist’s expression but mirrors that trigger the viewer’s internal narratives. As you wander the boundaries between the subconscious and the unconscious, what do you see—is it the world you assume to be true, or a deeper reality that surpasses assumption? This exhibition does not aim to provide definitive answers; rather, it aspires to ignite a dual reflection—both intellectual and emotional—through the conduit of vision.
We welcome you to step into this thought experiment on consciousness, perception, and the infinite self with an inquisitive gaze.
"See Infinity in Your Eyes" is open until 27 April 2025 at RCB Galleria 4, 2nd floor, River City Bangkok.
