“Between the Lines” presents artworks by BeChanida and Thanistha Nunthapojn, for whom “lines” are an artistic signature: the formal device that drives the expression of narratives, feelings and intention through their artwork. Between the lines exist worlds that unfold in all directions, spiralling out into new possibilities for meaning and discovery.
With lines and colors, BeChanida finds beauty in the emotional palette of everyday life, opting to vividly distill impressions through abstract painting, rather than figurative representation. Her lines capture the essence of moments that are hard to put into words, enriching and expanding the domain of feeling and beauty.
Thanistha Nunthapojn sutures celadon porcelain, such as bowls and vases, repairing ready-made ware once broken beyond use. Now resurrected, these vessels are endowed with many new possibilities that coexist with the spectre of their former lives. Recalling practices of care for the body and spirit of living beings, Thanistha’s artistic practice ensures the preservation of traditional knowledge, making whole what was once broken, while occasioning a new beginning for objects that have been discarded and, for all intents and purposes, forgotten.
