Supple Gallery is pleased to present a solo exhibition titled Suggestions by Asok Ariyapratip.

This exhibition will be held at our gallery in Bangkok from September 21 to November 10, 2024. Suggestions explores the ambiguous boundary between space, landscape, and semi-abstract art. This impressive series challenges the notion that art is solely a visual experience, proposing instead that it is also a psychological one.

Each interpretation becomes an essential part of the artwork itself. Inspired by the concept of the Rorschach inkblot test, Asok's works serve as a mirror to the subconscious, with each unique abstract piece imprinting its distinct ideas upon the viewer's mind. Asok employs a wide range of techniques and materials, such as brushes, pens, ink, and unconventional tools like paper rolls, to create complex textures and layers.

These elements come together in abstract forms, hinting at familiar events but intentionally left open to interpretation. This exhibition plays with the fluidity of perception, encouraging the exploration of endless possibilities within abstraction, and challenging the boundaries between the artist, the artwork, and the audience. About the Artist Asok Ariyapratip was born in 1948 in Bangkok, Thailand. He began his artistic journey by studying fine arts at Carlisle College of Art and Nottingham College of Art.

Throughout his career, Asok has exhibited his work extensively in Bangkok, New Delhi, and Berlin. This exhibition marks his first solo show in over a decade.
