Resonant Abstractions: D-Jai Kosiyabong Composes a New Language of Sight and Sound to See Sound, Hear Colour
SAC Gallery is proud to present ‘Resonant Abstractions’, the eagerly anticipated debut solo exhibition by artist D-Jai Kosiyabong, curated by Miranda K. Metcalf, opening on 3 April and running until 31 May 2025. In this exhibition, Kosiyabong masterfully interrogates the intersection of visual art, sound, language and memory, creating an immersive multisensory experience that challenges conventional perceptions of communication.
D-Jai Kosiyabong is known in the international art scene for her work in significant group exhibitions, including ‘Being Human | Human Being’ at Carlsberg Byens Galleri in Copenhagen, Denmark and ‘It's Not Me. It's My Image’ at Gallery House in Brooklyn, New York, USA.
Her work has garnered widespread interest from art collectors across the United States, Europe, and Asia, reflecting her ability to create art that communicates profoundly across cultural boundaries.
After participating in numerous group exhibitions across Bangkok, this exhibition marks a significant milestone in Kosiyabong’s artistic journey. Her distinctive body of work has evolved steadily, culminating in this comprehensive solo debut which represents the first time she has combined sound with paintings, fully realising her artistic vision.
‘Resonant Abstractions’ features a striking collection of abstract paintings paired with ‘sound’ that extend beyond traditional artistic boundaries. Kosiyabong’s innovative approach transforms linguistic patterns into dynamic visual compositions whilst simultaneously translating these visual elements into layered sound experiences—inviting visitors to ‘listen with their eyes and see with their ears.’
