The "Open Ocean" exhibition by American artist Peter Holden showcases abstract and semi-abstract paintings that convey personal experiences and the uncertainties of life through vibrant colors and a variety of painting techniques.
Before Peter fully transitioned into becoming a full-time painter, he worked in the music industry as a Senior International Marketing Executive for Virgin Records, Disney, and most recently, Concord Records.
During his career, he collaborated with renowned artists such as Smashing Pumpkins, Paula Abdul, Joni Mitchell, James Taylor, Sia, John Fogerty (CCR), and many more.In a recent conversation, we were discussing the music we listen to, and what the younger generation listens to nowadays.
One of the team members mentioned the Spice Girls, to which Peter responded, "I used to work with them." Just as he said that, the iconic hit "Wannabe" by the Spice Girls started playing. Peter's sense of humor was evident through his expression, eyes, and the lively conversation, as well as in his art, which is filled with brightness and joy.
Peter will be residing at Matdot Art Center until the end of next month.
Visitors are welcome to come and chat with him. You can schedule a visit, but Peter often leaves his studio door slightly open as a subtle invitation to drop by.
