A Healing Exhibition for the Days When the World Isn't Beautiful by Thani (Thanida Panbanphaeo)

If you could define your life as a flower, a tree, the wind, or a river—how would you describe your journey filled with both joy and sorrow?

For me, life is a blend of all these elements, layered upon one another, much like the many facets of human experiences. This idea is central to Layers of Life, a solo exhibition by artist and graphic designer Thani (Thanida Panbanphaeo). Through her paintings on white paper, enriched with layers of poster colors, she explores the overlapping nature of life’s moments—both light and dark, much like the layers of color in her artwork.

Before Layers of Life concludes on February 14, we invite you to visit the exhibition at KICHgallery. Even from the entrance, the serene blue and white tones chosen by the artist evoke a sense of peace and calm, offering solace before you even step inside.

In this exhibition, Thani reflects on past memories—both painful and joyful—that continue to shape the present. Her signature character, a white-robed angel with closed eyes and a gentle smile, serves as a metaphor for acceptance and peace. This angel represents the artist herself, guiding visitors toward letting go of burdens and embracing tranquility.

One standout piece, Stream, features the angel meticulously sewing an endless piece of fabric. Thani uses this imagery to symbolize how we are all the source of our own life’s journey, weaving our own paths. Whether the fabric turns out short, long, or beautifully intricate depends on us. This thoughtful metaphor encourages deep reflection on our own experiences through her work.
