"Writing the Sky with Heart: Observing and Recording the Wonders of the Universe"
By the National Astronomical Archives, National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (Public Organization)
Time: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM
In today’s fast-paced world, many people often overlook the small details around them. Writing observations of the sky, stars, and the surrounding nature is a way to enhance awareness and reflect creatively on one's thoughts and feelings. It is also an important tool for developing effective analytical thinking skills.
Recording allows us to revisit our memories from the past and can serve as a historical record if these notes survive the passage of time and are shared with future generations who may want to learn about the past. The stories from the perspective of the recorder may not capture every aspect of an event, but they offer a unique view. Nowadays, there are various ways to record, such as using paper notebooks or applications and programs available for note-taking. However, the problem with using apps or programs is that the records are often private and difficult to access due to encryption, meaning third parties cannot view the data. It is unfortunate if these records are lost due to the degradation of the device, failure to update, or account deletion due to non-payment of services. Although the format of recording may change over time, these records, if found, hold true historical value.
Note-taking and observation are fundamental tools that spark new innovations and deepen our understanding of nature. Through them, new knowledge may emerge for the recorder, which can then be shared with others.
To encourage more recording, the National Astronomical Archives, National Astronomical Research Institute of Thailand (Public Organization) is organizing a workshop to raise awareness about recording astronomical events that participants may have witnessed themselves, preserving them as memories to pass on to future generations.
