You might have never known that Unfolding Kafka Festival was founded by Jitti Chompee or Kru Oh, a famous Thai choreographer.
He was first inspired by the show called “Der Bau” by Isabelle Schad and Laurent Goldring that he watched in Hamburg, Germany. This show was influenced by Franz Kafka’s novel which made Kru Oh realize at that time that the piece of novel, perceived by dancing, could become another form of visual art which leads to various ways of interpretation.
If Kafka represents a piece of obscurity and grotesque of his era, combined with absurd situations, the act of “Unfolding” means studying, investigating and interpreting every aspect possible of that piece. This festival is then no difference from an invitation to another world of arts, vaguely opened for boundaryless development and interpretation.
The Unfolding Kafka Festival is now reaching its 5th edition, it will then celebrate its 10th anniversary as well as commemorate the centennial anniversary of Franz Kafka’s death. Therefore, the organizer team decided that this will be its last edition as its greatest epilogue.
