“Rang Ruam Samai” is a photo exhibition that continues the artist’s concept of “Corps de Style”, which refers to the style of furniture that was copied from the 19th and 20th centuries. However, for the artist, Corps de Style means a space that is full of He goes with private collections that have interesting stories and histories, whether they are homes or museums. His photographs are inspired by vibrant places that have never been seen by the public, places that have endured time and history. But he has never experienced any modernity, which is reflected through his works that connect with the human body.
Julien Spiewak is deeply interested in the relationship between antique furniture, architecture and sculpture and the human body in modern contexts, inviting viewers to explore these delicate connections, question or shift perspectives. Of the area through the eyes of the current audience.
Julien saw elements around him, such as the curves of an armrest, the sculpted face, the open door, and the pattern on the wallpaper, as a call to connect with different parts of the human body, even though these elements and the pieces themselves The meaning is minimal, but exploring the hidden desires within the photographs, as well as the cultural impact of the body and its spatial context, becomes an interesting new experience for the artist, even though he had previously lived in Thailand. As an English teacher in his teens, he understood the European cultural context of seeing human body parts in a very limited way, which is very different from Thai culture because of its deep history and religion, such as the belief in the sacred. of the head and the impurity of the feet. Therefore, the significance of this work is not only the respect for both cultures but also the exploration of the landscape around Bangkok.
