Their First-Ever Songkran Art Exhibition Celebrating New Beginnings!

The Peninsula Bangkok, in collaboration with River City Bangkok, proudly presents “New Beginnings: The Spirit of Songkran”—an evocative art exhibition showcasing the works of 17 contemporary Thai artists from the Artist in Residence Program at River City Bangkok. Each artist lends their unique perspective to the theme of renewal, interpreting the essence of new beginnings through their signature techniques and distinctive artistic voices. 

Following the success of “Sanctuary Within”, an Art in Resonance exhibition by Jarupatcha Achavasmit in 2024, “New Beginnings: The Spirit of Songkran” marks the first major art exhibition of the year at The Peninsula Bangkok. This showcase reaffirms our unwavering commitment to supporting visionary Thai artists while celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Thailand.

In celebration of Songkran—the Thai New Year, symbolizing renewal and the embrace of new beginnings—“New Beginnings: The Spirit of Songkran” unfolds the artistic journeys of 17 contemporary Thai artists. Through an exquisite interplay of textures, colors, and diverse materials, each artwork encapsulates the essence of transformation, offering reflections on the past and present while unveiling fresh perspectives on change and rebirth.

This remarkable exhibition is open to the public free of charge. To further enrich the artistic experience during Songkran, The Peninsula Bangkok proudly presents a special art workshop led by Supoj Kunanukhon, one of the featured artists renowned for his mastery of natural pigment techniques. Participants will have the rare opportunity to explore his creative process and engage with his unique approach to art-making.

“New Beginnings: The Spirit of Songkran” will be on view from April 2 to June 30, 2025, at the Mezzanine Level, The Peninsula Bangkok — an invitation to witness art’s power to inspire renewal and celebrate the spirit of new beginnings.
