My Sweet Burden

"My Sweet Burden" is an exhibition that presents an intimate glimpse into another side of the artist, Ping Hatta. It invites the audience to journey with her as she takes on the role of rescuing fallen baby birds — a pursuit inspired by her affection for the feathered visitors in her garden. Over the years, Ping has developed a deep connection to these vulnerable creatures, nurturing and rehabilitating injured birds until they are strong enough to be released back into the wild. Each bird she has rescued is etched into her memory, a blend of joy, pain, and hope.

This body of work celebrates the quiet beauty and simple joys of everyday life, serving as a tribute to the birds that have touched her life, as well as to the compassionate bird lovers and fellow caregivers who work tirelessly to save these small lives that often go unnoticed.

Ping Hatta captures profound emotions—small joys, the charm and mischief of birds, the worries, patience, and healing that come with temporarily raising young, fallen birds. It reveals the quiet yet unbreakable bond that forms between the caregiver and their feathered friends, a connection too deep for words.
