Harvest of Harmony
Harvest of Harmony Solo Exhibition by Auracherrybag
SHOW PERIOD: 19 Oct – 28 Dec, 2024 at Mini Xspace Gallery FL, 1 (Mon-Sat 10:00-17:00)
The “Harvest of Harmony” exhibition integrates hands-on practice, experimentation, and insights gained from the process of cultivating fruits and vegetables in Tasmania. The joy of gardening extends beyond the produce; the shapes and colors the plants exhibit, along with the diversity and uniqueness of the living beings that surround them, provide a constant source of inspiration and wonder.
Gardening can be likened to the practice of yoga—a discipline that imparts essential lessons about being present in the moment. The consistent act of repetition fosters an awareness of gradual change and growth. Everything in nature is interconnect ed; elements such as food, air, water, and light all influence plant growth. Likewise, through mixed-media techniques that Aura applies on her canvas such as painting, cutting, pasting, and adhering, a connection is formed to remain anchored in the present moment, rather than focusing solely on achieving a perfect outcome. Through this awareness and understanding, we learn to let go of what we cannot control and discover tranquility in the cycles of growth and decay, returning to the starting point for renewal.
The unseen yet essential forces of nature offer additional inspiration. Bees work tirelessly to pollinate and nurture our gardens, while the nutrients in the soil allow root vegetables like carrots and potatoes to flourish in challenging underground conditions. This hidden yet vital role reminds us of the interconnectedness that sustains life in the natural world. It highlights the relationship between nature, personal growth, and mindfulness, encouraging us to cultivate acceptance, adaptability, and a deeper appreciation for our surroundings.
